Dave Effman Bass
Dave, a retired engineer, originally hails from Connecticut. He started his singing career in the church choir, when his wife, Elaine, was the organist. Singing bass in that choir made for a simple transition to sing bass with barbershop. After all, a bass is a bass! His first foray into barbershop was with the New London (Connecticut) Sea Notes and was a part of two quartets: The Village Squares, and Shades of Gray. Having vacationed in the Upper Valley for some 40 years, Dave and Elaine made the vacation permanent in 2009 and he began singing with the Chordsmen which led to the formation of the Clef Hangers in 2010. Although singing barbershop is not his only hobby, it seems it is the only one that he can do year round since snow and ice make golf, swimming, and boating difficult! Dave finds there is always more to learn, especially in quartetting and enjoys seeing the growth and the depth of the “Cleffies” increase with each song added.
